But what if you are getting the right amount sleep and yet still feel drained and just plain exhausted during the day? The problem could be the quality of your sleep. There are a lot of factors that can affect how we sleep, and studies have been conducted to try and narrow down the possible reasons.
A lot of people think that sugary beverages and caffeinated drinks like coffee are good enough to hydrate the body, but nothing is as good as plain old water. Drinking the daily recommended 8 glasses can help keep your energy up during the day and help your brain work better when you sleep at night. Cut down on sugared drinks and caffeine, and switch to water. It’s what your body was naturally designed to use for hydration.
2. Blood sugar imbalance
Imbalanced blood sugar levels can mess up your energy levels throughout the day. Your blood sugar levels are regulated by your diet, and a diet rich in refined sugars is going to make those levels go haywire. Reduce the amount of refined sugars in your meals. If you have a sweet tooth, consider eating fruits instead. Fruit is a healthier option because of its fiber content, which helps the body better digest its sugar.
3. Poor diet
Studies have shown that a poor diet can have adverse effects on the duration and quality of your sleep. A diet rich in fats and refined carbohydrates is a big no-no. Instead, try foods that promote lasting energy, like whole grains, leafy vegetables, nuts, dried fruit, and lean meat.
Eating a healthy breakfast first thing in the morning is also a great way to combat tiredness during the rest of the day. You should also eat your meals at regular intervals to prevent your energy levels from getting too low.

5. Very little physical exercise
Modern office jobs require us to spend almost 8 hours a day sitting down. A sedentary lifestyle is extremely unhealthy and it can leave you feeling sluggish and tired, even if you make sure to get enough sleep every night.
Consider establishing an exercise routine to rejuvenate your body and improve the quality of your sleep. If that’s not possible, then take walking breaks to reduce the amount of time you spend sitting down. Just get your body moving. It’ll make a world of difference.
